An Afternoon of "Hoops"

I promised you basketball pictures so here they are. I have discovered one thing. Action pictures are hard to take. I clicked all afternoon and this is the best of them. Jacob was all dressed and ready for his game in this picture. We had a fun afternoon of basketball. We went to Jacob's game at 11 and then rushed to another gym for Joel's game. Joel's team won and Jacob's team had a loss. (That's ok, we'll get them next week) Both boys played their best and had a really good game. Jacob is getting so tall. He stood up by me in church Sunday and he is almost as tall as I am!!

Jacob looking to pounce on the ball. I tried to get one of him on the run, but by the time I took the picture, I missed him every time.

Joel bringing the ball down the court. (If you have never seen a 6 year old basketball game, you don't know what you are missing!!) Joel's team has really worked on their dribbling this year and are really getting good at it.

Aaron Meets the Cousins

Aaron has met a lot of people while he was here, but I think that maybe some of his favorite are these three. He already can see how much fun he will have playing with them when he gets a little bigger. Jacob, Joel and Eli are already planning what he will be able to do when we go to the beach this summer. They can't wait to show him the ocean. They loved to hold him and have him grab one of their fingers. They also hate to hear him cry (which he does loudly everytime he has to have a diaper change!!). I see lots of fun in the future for these 4. (plus his older brother Danny who had to stay in Virginia and go to school. We missed you Danny, but we will get to see you at Spring Break.

My house is very quiet today. Kerri and Aaron are in Washington, PA today visiting his other grandparents and uncles and aunts and cousins. It's a good thing he is such a good baby. He just lets up pass him around and he doesn't seem to mind a bit. I just hope he isn't bored when he gets back home. (Sorry Kerri, we probably have him pretty much spoiled now!). I'm having Aaron withdrawal today. I miss him so much already. I am going to keep busy today and go to a couple of basketball games. I might have some pictures of Jacob and Joel's basketball games later. The last time I tried to take pictures at a game, I discovered I am not a sports photographer at all. Everytime I took an action picture I totally missed what I was aiming for. I had lots of pictures of kids I don't even know!! Practice makes perfect so I'll try again today.

Aaron's first visit to Mamaw's Bed and Breakfast

When Kelli came home from Kerri's yesterday she brought a couple of stow-aways with her. Kerri and Aaron. Papaw got to hold Aaron for the first time. We still can't decide who he looks like. He made the trip with flying colors and then he slept 5 hours last night. He is such a good baby!! We are so glad to see them. Needless to say he has been the center of attraction since he has been here. We get to keep him until Friday and then he is going to visit his other Grandma in Washington, PA. I will post more pictures of his visit later. (I'm sure I will have a few)

Jeff's Birthday Party

Jacob, Joel and Eli with their Uncle Jeff at his birthday party on Wednesday. (Eli is holding his elephant that he named "Snoopy") Kelli fixed us a turkey dinner and it was really good. We made Jeff get up early before he had to work and he was really sleepy. Kelli and Eli made it safely to Virginia today. They are visiting the new cousin, Aaron. I'm wating for Kerri to post us some pictures soon. I'm sure Jacob and Joel will spend some time with Mamaw and Papaw this week-end. I know Eli will give Aaron a hug from all of us!!

Jeff with his big Cookie Dough Ice Cream cake. The rest of us had rasberry cheesecake.

Happy Birthday Jeff

Twenty-eight years ago today we had an ice storm. I know because we were on our way to the hospital. (We were almost out of gas too, but that's another story). It's hard to believe that my son is 28 years old. I may have to stop putting the ages of my kids on here, because it is starting to make me look really old.

We are going to celebrate his birthday tonight at Kelli's. (I think she is fixing a turkey dinner, that is what Jeff always asked for when he was little.)

Happy Birthday, Jeff. We love you!!

Mamaw is Home

I made it back home to Wild, Wonderful West Virginia last evening. I thank the Lord for his traveling mercies. I had absolutely no trouble on the way down or back, not even a missed turn. Plus the weather was great, (not your typical January weather at all) On the way back I thought it was raining, but I realized it was my tears (usually when we leave Allen drives and I cry, this time I had to cry and drive - not a good thing). At least I know I can make the trip by myself so little Aaron needs to be on the look-out. Mamaw may show up on his door step at anytime. When Kelli had her boys, I think Kevin and her were thinking about moving and not leaving a forwarding address, because her house was on my way home from work and for some reason my car just went in that direction and I ended up there just about every day!!

I was going to go over to Kelli's this afternoon and see my other boys and Jacob called me this morning and said "Mamaw, you might not want to come over today, Mommy, Daddy and Joel are sick." I guess they have the same virus Eli had earlier in the week. Everyone has had it now but Jacob. He told me he has been trying not to get it. I hope he doesn't, but the odds aren't in his favor. Hopefully they will get better soon and I can get to see them.

I think Danny is going to be a good baby-sitter.

Aaron decked out as a "West Virginian"

Just wanted to post a few more pictures before I head for home. I am leaving in the morning. Kerri has everything under control. She acts like she has been doing this all her life. Aaron is already on a good schedule and even slept 4 hours last night (that's four in a row!) He had his first Dr's appointment this morning and gained 7 ounces which is exactly what he was supposed to gain. His Aunt Kelli is going to try to come up next week and see him so I don't think he will lack for company. I know Kerri is bringing him to Fairmont just as soon as she can. In the meantime, we will have to check Kerri's blog for up to the minute pictures. Poor Aaron, I think when he goes to sleep, he sees lights flashing all the time!!

Kerri was calming him down in this picture. He did not like his bath in the least. I can tell you for a fact the he has powerful lungs. He hates to get his clothes changed. He is already a typical boy.

Aaron Scott at 5 days Old

Aaron Scott Thumm is 5 days old today. I am still here in Virginia. I am staying two more days and leaving on Saturday to go home. I see more trips to Virginia in my immediate future. He is such a doll baby. (more so now than he was at 2 this morning) I think he is looking more like Kerri every day. I have a few baby pictures at home that I want to compare, but I think he looks a lot like her baby pictures. Kerri has set up her own blog and will put more pictures on it. I have a link on the side that you can click on and go right to her site. I am expecting a picture every day so I can keep up with the changes.

I think in this picture he was reaching out for Mamaw!! He really doesn't want me to leave.

I heard that Jacob and Joel had a snow day today and got to go sled riding. I know that made them very happy. Hope you had fun guys and Mamaw will see you soon. I have a surprise for you!!

Aaron Scott is Home

Aaron came home Sunday afternoon and is watching his first football game. Mom and baby are doing "great". Aaron likes to be held, (how can we have him spoiled already!) He slept fairly well last night (if someone would hold him) I think when he starts getting his Mom's milk on a regular basis, he will be a pretty content baby. I am having a good time helping to take care of him, but most of the time he really just wants his Mother. Danny was anxious to get to school today and show off his pictures. He had a whole slide show on his Ipod to show his friends.

I thought I would take a picture of him laying in his bed because we have him in there so seldom. This lasted about 2 minutes and he had enough and wanted to be held. (He's a real snuggler)
Kerri can't wait to get him to West Virginia. I think you can count on seeing him sooner rather than later. I will be here all week so I will put up some more pictures soon. Aaron can't wait to meet his cousins, Jacob, Joel and Eli and I know they want to see him!!

Happy New Year and "Go Mountaineers"

We had quite a New Year's Eve Party this year. These three stayed all night and everyone made it awake until the ball dropped. Eli wasn't sure what all the fuss was about, he was afraid the ball was going to fall on someone, but he made it till midnight and was very excited. Staying awake until midnight sure isn't as easy as it used to be! Then we had a Gator Bowl party and watched the Mountaineers win. It didn't start out too good, but we didn't give up and the Mountaineers came from behind for the victory. Kerri didn't have the baby in time for a tax deduction, but we are sure it can't be too much longer. Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!!
