Christmas Candy

Today I am going to participate in one of my new blogger friend's Keeping Creative Kitchens that she hosts on Thursdays. (If I can figure out how to do the link). It is so much fun meeting new friends and Alaina always has good recipies on her blog. (and she has 3 cute little boys and I am partial to boys). My sister Sharlene gave me this recipe a few years ago and I can't tell you how many times I have made it. (This picture is actually Kerri's candy this year because I made a couple of batches and we ate it, therefore, no pictures.) It is so easy and so good and people think you spent a long time on it.

Here are the ingredients.

1 12 oz. package white chocolate chips

1 1/2 cups pretzels (I use the small pretzel sticks and just break them in half)

1 cup nuts (I use peanuts, but you can use mixed nuts or cashews if you want to go gourmet)

1 cup red and green M & M's

All you do is melt the choc chips in a big bowl in your microwave, then add the rest of the ingredients quickly and mix together. Pour the mixture into a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. When it is set and not sticky, simply break into pieces and enjoy!

Everyone loves to get this candy and I like it because it is so easy.

Hope everyone has a Merry Chrismas. I am off to wrap presents. (Every year I forget how long it takes to wrap!)

Happy Birthday Jacob!!

Tomorrow Jacob will be 11 years old. He likes to wear this shirt when he goes to practice. Right now he is playing on the 5th grade East Dale Stinger's basketball team. We are so proud of Jacob. He is an A-Student and we just found out the he gets to go to Math Field Day for the second year.
Jacob is a joy to be around and we love every minute we spend with him.
Hope you have a wonderful birthday. Papaw and Mamaw love you!!

Jacob, Joel and Eli came over yesterday and helped me decorate the tree. They are becoming tree trimming experts and Jacob is getting tall enough to reach the top branches. Papaw is waiting until they are old enough to put up the outside lights for him. I just about have the house decorated and most of my shopping done.
I haven't wrapped anything yet or baked anything, but I'm getting there. (Everything seems to take so much longer than it used to. It can't be because I am getting older) . Hope everyone has a good week!!

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving was a very good day this year. My brother and his family came here from Tennessee and Kerri and her crew were here from Virginia. We exchanged some Christmas presents with the out of towners. Marvin and his family love to get West Virginia clothes. (as least we think they do, because that is what we get them!!) This is my nephew Shane and his fiance.

This is one of the few pictures I have of Aaron. He doesn't sit still long enough to get his picture. He's having some quality time with Aunt Kelli. (In case you haven't heard, Kelli is giving me another Grandbaby in June!!)

The boys had a "pile on" with Uncle Jeff.

Grandma Rutherford got another cow for her collection.

Jacob and Joel got new WVU hoodies. (thank goodness, they are growing like weeds and their other WVU sweatshirts were too little)
Eli got a new Webkinz - a mouse he named "Goliath" and then nicknamed "Jerry".

Uncle Jeff colored a picture for my refrigerator.

Marvin drove all night and got here Thursday morning. Needless to say, he was pretty tired on Friday. He perked up on Friday and went to the WVU -Pitt game with Jeff and Stacie.

This is the only good picture I got of Danny. I don't know what I am going to do with these boys. They don't want their picutures taken any more.

Eli and Stacie were waiting patiently for dinner to be ready.

Kerri and I were in the kitchen all day Wednesday. I don't think I could have done it without her help. I hope she gets here early to help at Christmas too!!

Dee Dee got her WVU Santa hat she had been wanting.
All in all, it was a very good day. Lots of food and fellowship. It's hard to believe that it is December already. I guess I better get busy now and get my tree up and my decorating done.
I have a lot to do the next few weeks, but it will be fun. Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one and I better see some pictures on your blogs in the very near future!!
