We have Company!!

Kerri, Aaron and Danny came on Thursday to hang out for a few days. Aaron loves baseball as much as the rest of the kids and could usually be found with a ball in his hand. (Be sure to check out his "batman" shoes. Kerri hates them and Aaron won't take them off . Sorry Micah, I looked but they didn't have them in your size. Everytime I see these shoes, I think of you in your batman cape). We have had a good time. Aaron has had a ball playing with his cousins. We had a cook-out on Saturday and Allen fixed his bear meat. I forgot to take a picture of it. It tasted a lot like roast beef. He cooked it in (are you ready for this) - wine. I was afraid it would taste really strong, but it didn't. It just felt funny when you thought about the fact that you were eating a bear.
I have a hard time getting a good picture of Danny. He hides from the camera. Jacob, Joel and Eli love it when he comes in because he can talk baseball with them all day. He knows where to go on the internet and find funny baseball videos.

We had a backyard (in our case, front yard) baseball game and this big kid got to play.

I just had to get this picture of Joel, because it is not very often you can get a picture of him just sitting!!
Jacob took his money and bought himself a "track phone". He gave us all his number, but told us not to call because he didn't want to use up all his minutes. (Texting only uses .3 of a minute, but I'm not sure I can do much texting). He and Danny texted each other all day. I just can't believe how grown up Jacob is getting. When he was out on the baseball field in his uniform, I could hardly stand it. It seems like yesterday he was the size of Aaron.
Aaron put this batting helmet on and wore it most of the day. The thing weighed a ton, but he didn't want to take it off. I guess he wanted to be ready if they needed him at bat. Kerri took a cute video of him batting, but when I tried to watch it, I deleted it by mistake. (That's how good I am with all the electronic gadgets)
Eli in the "front yard brawl". Eli kept Aaron occupied a lot of the time. Aaron loved to be chased by him. Kerri is leaving tomorrow morning. The contractor is working on her house and they say it will be done by July 8. Let's hope so!!

Allen goes to Canada - Part II

I thought I would show you some of the fishing pictures from Allen's Canada Trip. (Don't you just love his hat). He usually brings us home some fish, but this year they ate it all so we didn't get any. Allen doesn't bear hunt, but he does enjoy the fishing and as you can see he does catch some!! (Walleyes and Saugers)

Allen with his fishing buddies and their "catch of the day".
A "big Walleye"
As you can see it is very rugged where they camp.
This is a moose stand. I guess you just sit in it and wait for a moose to walk by. (Moose hunting is at a different time of the year, but some of these guys have been moose hunting)
Kerri is coming in this week-end so I think we are going to roast the bear meat. I'll let you know what I think it tastes like!!

Allen goes to Cananda - Part I

Allen went on his annual Canada trip last week and I have him taking pictures for me now. Believe me when I say there is no way I would want to go on this trip. This picture was taken right before they left. If they were walking around for very long they would have to be covered up and use bug spray because the black flies are terrible. Allen has bites all over him. There were 10 of them that went. The boy holding the flag in this picture lives at the campground. 6 of the guys shot bears. Allen doesn't bear hunt but he caught a lot of fish (pictures of them later).

One of the bears that didn't make it!! Allen brought home some bear meat. It's in my freezer. Let me know when you can come and visit and we will have a "bear roast".

I thought my family might like to see that there is a Rutherford Road in Canada.

Allen outside of the Cabella's in Ontario.
This bear was killed with a bow and arrow. This is some of the campground where they stay.
The lake at the campground
Stay tuned for Part II. I will post the fishing pictures.
